THE GAS HOUSE GORILLAS: News/Journal

SHOWTIME! - July 8, 2006

In the crowd we find a mix of knowing fans and Gorilla newcomers. The lights dim. The band takes the stage. The knowing fans take a step or two back. The unwitting newcomers fill the void in front of the stage. The knowing fans wait and watch. The Gas House Gorillas launch into their trademark opener “Powerhouse” and the newcomers get pulled into the riptide of the dancing throng! WHAM! The band is swingin’ hard and fast! SLAM! Newcomers are flying in all directions, as the audience is enveloped in song after song of the most infectious American music they've ever heard! Suddenly, members of the Gorillas are venturing into the crowd. LOOK OVER THERE! Rick is belting one out from the top of the bar as Crusher attacks unsuspecting newcomers from the other end of the room. HE’S MAKING THEM SING!

OH THE HUMANITY!

At the end of the night there is an eerie calm as newcomers are helped up, dusted off and plucked out of the chandeliers to return another day as knowing fans.

We'll see you soon! {:8())-

FLASH! - July 17, 2005

This just in:
Crusher Carmean unveiled his latest creation last night at the Crossroads Bar in Asbury Park. His new "ALUMINUM BASS" weighs in at about 70 pounds, sounds great and dispenses soft serve ice cream in 72 flavors!
The guy actually threw this big monstrocity into the air!
He now wears a truss and speaks in a high voice.
Thank you to the many Gorilla fans who made us feel right at home on the Jersey shore!

Cookin' At Home with Rick! - June 2, 2005

Gorilla Chicken Pasta

1 lb. Rigatoni pasta
1 bunch of broccoli (steamed)
1 large sweet onion (chopped)
6 large cloves of garlic (sliced)
9 small plum tomatoes
1/3 cup sun dried tomatoes (in olive oil - chopped)
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 lb. Boneless, skinless chicken breast (rubbed with sea salt & black pepper)
Italian seasoning mix - sold in stores (i.e. marjoram, thyme, rosemary, savory, sage, oregano, & basil)
crushed red pepper
salt & pepper

First, in a non-stick skillet, saute chicken in olive oil until cooked through.
Separately, in a large pan, saute onions & garlic in olive oil over medium heat. Add Italian spices, salt & pepper and cook until caramelized.
Remove chicken from the skillet, dice & add to the large pan, stirring often.
Add broccoli, sun dried tomatoes & plum tomatoes. Add spices to taste & stir well.
For an extra kick add a pinch of crushed red pepper.
Continue cooking until ingredients are blended. Approximately five minutes.
Toss with rigatoni and serve.

Serves four.

Add fresh Parmesan, soft music, candle light & a ten dollar Chianti for an unforgettable evening with the gorilla your dreams.

WELCOME! - February 18, 2005

Welcome to the new Gorillas' site! Last week we blew the roof off of The Crossroads Bar in Asbury Park! We played until 1:30 in the morning and everyone stayed 'til the bitter end. We even got an encore! Nobody wanted to go home, including the band.
The show was sponsored by The Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation. They have been great to the Gorillas and we appreciate their continued support. Check out their website on our links page.
Tomorrow we'll be raising the roof at Tierney's Tavern in Montclair! Details can be found on our "gigs" page.
Please keep on checking back for the latest Gorilla info. And sign our guestbook! Tell me more about my eyes...flutter, flutter.
Best,
Rick {:8())-
