Director Brent Campanelli joins Tuff Contender for spots and music videos

Director Brent Campanelli has signed with Tuff Contender for commercial representation and music video. Tuff Contender becomes the first production company to represent Campanelli, which has created work for brands such as H&M, Macy’s, McDonald’s, Pepsi, Aveeno and Red Bull, and directed music videos for artists Audrey Mika, Blackbear and Phil Good, among others.

“Brent’s work radiates kinetic energy that sticks to your skin,” said Max Rose, executive producer of Tuff Contender. “You always hope when a reel hits like his that you meet the director and his work lives up to his ability to articulate his vision. Brent has that knack for making everyone see exactly where he wants to go.

Growing up as a musician and in skate/snowboard circles, Campanelli transitioned from filming action sports videos to endorsement promotions. Developing content at high speed and in your face formed his strong bond with the technical side behind the camera and his penchant for cinematic exploration. His mixed interests in music and cinematography first led Campanelli to study film, with a concentration in post-production, at Emerson College.

“Ultimately, the connection with the people on set – the talents, the teams, the clients is what led me to focus on directing,” Campanelli said. “Unraveling intuitions, exploring the languages between brands and developing a look and feel for clients is where I love being in the creative process. I look forward to growing with Tuff, a team in which I have confidence and with which I can build.

In 2021, Tuff collaborated with Campanelli to produce Audrey Mika’s “Excuses” music video which garnered over a million views on YouTube. The recent release of his “@My Worst” video by artist Blackbear via Columbia Records has garnered over five million views.

Among his work with Sony, Warner Music Group, Capitol and RCA record labels, Campanelli has filmed experiences and live sessions with Usher, Noah Cyrus and Ashe. Campanelli’s human instincts and comedic signature have led him to collaborate with celebrities and influencers including Harry Shum Jr. (Crazy Rich Asians, Glee), Lil Yachty and Hennessy Carolina.

Tuff Contender executive producer DJay Brawner said, “Brent and I had a working relationship and coming from similar musical backgrounds aligned us on a personal level. He has great instincts as a director and is always working to elevate whatever idea or concept is in front of him. We look forward to continuing this partnership. »
