New Weekend Music Playlist Spotlights Strong, Powerful Women | Lifestyles

This weekend’s new music playlist features releases from iconic female artists including Adele, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Lopez.

Adele relies solely on slow, smooth piano chords and advanced vocals on her song “To Be Loved”. The single is one of many tracks from her new album “30”, which she released on Friday and which touches on themes of divorce, motherhood and fame.

As on the rest of the album, Adele’s voice on “To Be Loved” is more than impressive and full of emotion. “To be loved and to love dearly / Means losing all the things I cannot live without,” Adele sings. The pop icon shines a light on the sacrifice that can come with love despite its best intentions and best efforts, and the level of vulnerability she displays in the song will certainly make many cry.

Singer Emmy Meli’s “I AM WOMAN” radiates confidence and power. Accompanied by a prominent percussive rhythm, Meli lists all the attributes that make her the strong and radiant person that she is. “I’m a woman / I’m not scared / I’m sexy / I’m divine / I’m unbeatable / I’m creative / Honey, stand in line,” Meli sings. The song goes viral as a sound on the popular social media app TikTok, where influencers like Anna Sitar feature photos of themselves that match the lyrics.

Speaking of awesome vocals, Christina Aguilera released the Spanish song “Somos Nada”, on which her silky voice glides perfectly over the piano chords. The lyrics describe the doubt and anxiety that comes with staying in a difficult relationship, a theme reflected in the clear angst in her voice. The translated lyrics say “Although I drown in pain / I do not lose faith in love / We are the flowers that grow in the mud / We are nothing, we are everything.”

Jennifer Lopez’s piano ballad “On My Way” provides a preview of the upcoming romantic comedy “Marry Me,” in theaters February 11. The song is about learning from the mistakes of the past, finding yourself and ending up exactly where you are meant to be in life. “Every tear fell so heavy / Hurt like hell but heaven sent me / I was on my way to you,” Lopez sings.

With this weekend’s girl-power playlist full of heart-wrenching ballads and powerful lyrics, women around the world will put their headphones down feeling validated, confident and strong.
