Today’s music icons like to push boundaries and challenge audiences – with their sound, their style and, of course, their controversial music videos.
Some of our favorite pop artists, rappers and rock stars made music videos that tested the limits of what’s acceptable on network TV – and in some cases even benefited from the appeal and curiosity extra to have their music videos banned from the networks.
Whether it’s flashing copious amounts of skin, violence and gore, inciting outrage with controversial political views, or even causing damage through flashing visuals, there have been all sorts of reasons why music videos of top stars weren’t allowed to see the light of day. (And sometimes stars regret their greatest hits.)
