The dawn of year-end list season has arrived: As you prepare to recover from your hurt feelings over Spotify Wrapped, YouTube has also shared a list of the most-streamed music videos of 2021 – and maybe – be that this will be less of a personal attack.

The Weeknd claims the No. 1 spot on the Canadian chart by going under the knife in the music video for “Save Your Tears.” Born artist Abel Tesfaye also recently landed the #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100 of all time, so it’s clear he’s working. and set to work.

It is followed on the YouTube chart by “Peaches” by Timbiebs spokesperson Justin Bieber and “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” by Lil Nas X, who is not the father’s father.

Rising star Olivia Rodrigo occupies both the fourth and fifth positions – the former with her heartbroken hit “driver’s license” and a cheerleader’s revenge in the latter with “bon 4 u”. It was undoubtedly another huge year for K-pop, as BTS landed No. 7 with “Butter,” just ahead of dynamic duo Silk Sonic’s “Leave the Door Open.”

Pooh Shiesty feat. Lil Durk (who actually topped the US list), Doja Cat ft. SZA and Polo G. Additional features on the US side include videos from fast food chicken mogul DJ Khaled, MO3 & OG Bobby Billions, Cardi B and Rod Wave.

Elsewhere in YouTube’s stats for 2021, the most-watched video in Canada was MrBeast’s documentation of 50 hours buried alive, which begs the question: are we all okay? Meanwhile, Kallmekris was the top Canadian creator on the platform, as well as the top breakout creator.
